Bird Watching

Bird Watching  $included| time: at your leisure
Best done on the route but possible from camp as well. This camp is interesting as it is between very different habitats below the rift valley floor and the Ngorongoro highlands above. Vagrants come through and there are plenty of locals to see too! The deep gorges here are home to a variety of avi fauna from chats to gymnogenes and plenty of woodpeckers hammering away at the decaying boughs of the Vachellia xanthophloea (Acacia). Please always take a guide / Maasai warrior when heading out from camp looking for birds!>

There are a number of stunning sundowner spots near to Leonotis camp. After a long day’s trekking guests often just want to rest in camp, but for sure, if you have the energy then arrange with your guide to walk to the sundowner hill nearby and watch the sun start to drop over the rift valley below and Oldonyo Lengai, a nearby volcano. Serene experience!
